Show caves ready for influx of tourists after painstaking preparation
As the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark prepares to officially open to the public again on St.Patrick’s Day next week, The Impartial Reporter took a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the work staff undertake to ensure Fermanagh’s underground attraction is ready for the new season.
Staff at the famous Fermanagh caves are looking forward to a busy season, with a German tour company already arranging to visit the attraction on a regular basis, bringing in excess of 5,000 to 6,000 German tourists to the area alone this year.READ MORE ….Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark

Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark – Cosmic Cuilcagh

The Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark in West Cavan and West Fermanagh is fortunate enough to have some of the clearest skies in the north of Ireland. In recognition of this we have teamed up once again with the staff from the Armagh Planetarium to host Cosmic Cuilcagh, a weekend of star-gazing and astronomical activities at the Marble Arch Caves Visitor Centre.
Starting at 11am on Saturday 25th February, activities will include visiting the Planetarium’s mobile stardome, star gazing walks with the Irish Astronomical Association, meteorite exhibitons and talks, and a whole host of other hands-on activities.
The event is completely free and runs from 11am until late on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th February. Star shows will take place at 11am, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm on both days

Cuilcagh Way Walking Guide-County Fermanagh- A Waymarked Way
A new excellent guide for walking in County Fermanagh, The Cuilcagh Way is a 33km waymarked circular route through a breathtaking patchwork of habitats in Western Fermanagh. It stretches from the low lies of Cladagh River, past Marble Arch Caves, to the blanket bog summit of Cuilcagh Mountain European Geopark. It returns via Florence court Forest Park, across the limestone pavement of Brookfield, skimming the base of the knolly Gortmaconnell Rock, to Marlbank Scenic Loop.
The Cuilcagh Way can be enjoyed in sections, and offers something to walkers of all abilities. Stunning views ans a chance to explore an astounding land of geology, wildlife, archaeology, folklore and natural history awaits you.

Cosmic Cuilcagh-The Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark

The Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark in association with the Armagh Planetarium and the Irish Astronomical Association are hosting Cosmic Cuilcagh, a weekend of ‘extra-terrestrial’ activities at the Marble Arch Caves Visitor Centre.
Cosmic Cuilcagh takes place this weekend, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th March from 11am until 9pm each day, is completely free and also includes complimentary refreshments!

- Public telescope viewing
- Touch a 4.5 billion year old meteorite
- Find out what really killed the dinosaurs
This unique event is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the night sky in Cavan and Fermanagh and offers a one-off opportunity to explore the solar system with the experts from the Armagh Planetarium.
