Bawnboy Looped Walk, Co. Cavan

Bawnboy Looped Walk, Co Cavan is now officially open, this walk can be easily found between Brackly Lake and Bawnboy Village on the N87. The signed walk is about 5km in length, takes about 1hr-to 1.5hrs to walk and is of moderate difficulty, car parking is provided. As you go higher up on this walk there is beautiful views  back down over Bawnboy Village, Brackly Lake and the Cavan countryside.

Opening of Bawnboy Walk, Co. Cavan

Templeport Development Association is delighted to announce that the official opening of The Bawnboy looped walk will take place on Saturday 8th September 2012 at 12.00 noon. All are welcome to the opening.We hope locals and tourists alike will enjoy this walk for many years to come.

The start of the Bawnboy looped walk is located approx 1 kilometre from Bawnboy on the right as you head towards Brackley Lake.
Parking is available at the entrance to the walk.

Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark get ready for 2012 season.

Show caves ready for influx of tourists after painstaking preparation

As the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark prepares to officially open to the public again on St.Patrick’s Day next week, The Impartial Reporter took a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the work staff undertake to ensure Fermanagh’s underground attraction is ready for the new season.

Staff at the famous Fermanagh caves are looking forward to a busy season, with a German tour company already arranging to visit the attraction on a regular basis, bringing in excess of 5,000 to 6,000 German tourists to the area alone this year.READ MORE ….Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark

My husband and his friend did part of the Cuilcagh Mountain Walk over the holidays, they thought it was a lovely walk , well sign posted, it was a bit foggy but still beautiful views. They have promised to do it again when the weather is finer.

Join local wildlife expert, Heather Bothwell for this gentle stroll and find out about the wide range of trees, birds, insects and mammals that are all found along the way.Meet at town Lake, Killeshandra at 2pm, returning again at 4pm. Start at the Shopping Centre/Petrol station car park at the bridge in Ballyconnell and cross the road to a small amenity park. Walk along the canal for 200m passing a footbridge. Continue on the path along the river. Eventually you emerge into the open countryside with the river on your left and open field on your right.

Continue walking along the bank. After approximately 45 minutes you will approach Annagh Woods. Enter the woods following the path. After 300m keep right at the fork in the path. Follow the path until emerging from the forest. Follow the path for 200m. Take a right turn onto a small downhill path to your right. At the bottom of hill, upon meeting the canal, turn left for home.

Facilities: Picnic tables; Café in Realta Shopping Centre (outside tables overlooking Woodford River)
