April Events at Jampa Ling Buddhist Centre, Bawnboy, Co. Cavan

The following events will be taking place during the month of April both at Jampa Ling and outside

2nd of April at 11am, Ven. Rinpoche will be opening a shop in Ennistymon, Co Clare. The shop will be called    ‘ Upstairs Downstairs’ and all the proceeds will go to 3 charities, one being to Ven. Rinpoche Asral Centre in Mongolia. Hopefully see you there. Everyone is welcome.

Also on the same day in St. Mogue’s College, Bawnboy, Co. Cavan the West Cavan Spring Fair will be held. There will be various workshops held through out the day and it’s aim is to raise awareness about mental health. Jampa Ling has been asked to cook and serve the food for the day and there will be two mediation workshops given by Ven. Rinpoche’s students. We will be one of the many stand holders on the day. We will be handing out information both for Jampa Ling Cavan and N. Ireland, for Mongolia and so forth. Also we will be selling from the Jampa Ling shop. It will be held from 12-6pm.

10th of April: Wandering through the Weeds, led by Judith Hoad. This is a one-day workshop in two secitons: in the morning Judith Hoad leads the group around any available – and relatively unkempt – garden, lane, field, or park.    As they are found, she discusses the culinary, domestic and medicinal uses to which each plant, (predominantly wild ones), is put.   Worksheets are provided for notes.   In the afternoon, Judith does the ‘cookery demonstration’, during which she shows the methods for making infusions, decoctions, compresses, poultices, tinctures, macerated oils and ointments.   She gives clear information on terminology and recipes, (or formulas).   There is a further sheet of notes that complements the afternoon’s work.   Judith keeps the day informal and encourages relevant questions and comments about our herbal heritage.   Participants are asked to bring weathproof clothing, including boots and note-books and pens, especially for the afternoon. Please bring vegetarian food to share. Costs €30, from 10am- 4pm.

9th/10th April: Teachings in Kilkenny by Ven. Rinpoche. Ven. Rinpoche will teach on ‘how to develop a happy mind’.

22nd-25th April: Easter Retreat. This is a silent retreat. It is a led retreat using the meditations given by Ven. Panchen Otrul Rinpoche during the teachings. It is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the teachings and to integrate them into our daily lives. Cost € 275.
