Slieve Rushen Mt, County Cavan

Slieve Rushen Mt, is between Ballyconnell and Bawnboy just a short drive off route N87. The mountain itself does not look very high but the views over West Cavan on into Leitrim are spectacular. The countryside below Slieve Rushen is laid out like a carpet dotted with farms, lakes and woodlands. The mountain itself is used by locals to cut turf, and by local industries to harvest energy using wind turbines.

The lake in the middle picture is Templeport Lake with St. Mogue’s Island.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day,  so we here in Lake Avenue House wish all a Very Happy St. Patrick’s Day. We will be attending the Ballyconnell parade which always has a big local turnout and a great place to meet all the neighbours and friends. And as the Irish luck seems to be with us, tomorrow promises to be a beautiful, bright, and sunny spring  day.

Old Irish Blessing

May the roads rise to meet you,
May the wind be at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rain fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
